Focus: This level acts as an Orca refresher, focusing on deep water skills, dives and turns. There is a emphasis on improving butterfly and full breaststroke timing, with swimmers building up to swimming one full length at a time.

MAKO SHARKS

Skills Based

Focus: Swimmers continue to refine their technique with an emphasis on powerful tumble turns and backstroke turns. We work on breaststroke timing, build butterfly endurance, and introduce diving from starting blocks, increasing swim distance to two lengths at a time.

TIGER SHARKS

Skills Based

Focus: Technique is constantly assessed and corrected. This level introduces advanced skills like breaststroke pull-outs, underwater work, and swimming a full length of butterfly. Swimmers learn training concepts like Individual Medleys  and using the pace clock(rest vs work), building endurance up to four lengths at a time for Freestyle and Backstroke.

BULL SHARKS

Skills Based

Focus: The aim of Bull Sharks is to increase fitness, continue to focus on technique, and train like they are in a mini squad. There are also lots of timed swims, and increased distanced swims, refining turns and dives. Changes and skills taught will depend on skills of group.

Freyberg Pool

Freyberg Pool is a 33m council run swimming pool on Oriental Parade in Wellington. Easyswim run ‘Sharks’ Groups for around 100 swimmers each Sunday during the year. Adaptive Sharks is a new group that adapts swimming for children with disabilities.


The 40 minute session teaches children how to swim in the larger pool along with turning and diving skills.

Have A Go Day at Cannons Creek Pool 

Three times a year, in terms 2, 3 and 4, Easyswim hosts a fun-filled Have A Go Day at the Cannons Creek 25-metre Pool. These special events are designed for young swimmers to experience the excitement of swim events in a supportive and family-friendly environment. 


Children can participate in 25m and 50m events, swimmers receive a ribbon after each swim with their time recorded on it. Swimming events are followed by free swim time and engaging water games including paddle boats, inflatables, have a go at junior water polo. It’s a fantastic opportunity to build confidence, try something new, and enjoy a memorable day with friends and whānau. 


Whether your child is new to swimming or looking to challenge themselves in a relaxed setting, Have A Go Day is a great way to encourage participation, celebrate progress, and strengthen a love for being in the water.
