About

Our Story
At Easyswim, we believe every New Zealander deserves the chance to learn to swim, develop confidence in the water, and experience the lifelong benefits of being active, safe, and capable in aquatic environments.
Our founder and business owner, Todd Morton, has been immersed in the swimming world for most of his life. A competitive swimmer for over 20 years, Todd represented New Zealand on the international stage and remains a passionate supporter of the swimming community.
"Having been involved in swimming all my life — including competing at a national level — I’ve experienced first-hand the many benefits that come from learning to swim."
One of the key reasons Todd started Easyswim in 2006 was to make sure that all Kiwi kids have the opportunity to learn to swim and to develop a love for being in and around the water.
Like many New Zealanders, Todd watched with concern as more and more school pools closed across the country. These aren’t just swimming facilities — they’re valuable community assets that provide local, affordable access to essential life skills.
As a strong advocate for water safety and education, Todd wanted Easyswim to be part of the solution. That meant bringing high-quality swim programmes into school pools, giving children and adults alike the opportunity to learn to swim safely, close to home, in a supportive environment.
Easyswim History
Easyswim began with a simple but powerful idea: to keep school pools open and make swimming accessible to all. What started in 2006 with a small group of lessons at Khandallah School quickly gained momentum thanks to the overwhelmingly positive response from local families. That early support laid a strong foundation for our growth.
As more schools recognised the value of our structured, high-quality swimming programmes, Easyswim steadily expanded to meet the needs of more communities across the Wellington region. In 2010, we partnered with Tawa School, bringing our programme to even more local learners. This was followed in 2016 by the addition of Johnsonville and Rewa Rewa Schools, both of which embraced our mission to improve water safety and swimming access.
In 2022, we extended our reach to Plimmerton School, transforming it into a year-round swim facility, ensuring consistent access to warm, well-managed lessons regardless of the season. Most recently, in 2023, we proudly launched our programme at Newtown School, continuing our commitment to bring swimming to the heart of every school community we serve.
Today, through these long-standing partnerships, Easyswim has delivered tens of thousands of swimming lessons to local children—right in their own school pools. Each step in our journey reflects our belief that every child deserves the opportunity to become a confident, capable swimmer in a safe and familiar environment.
